JUDY GARLAND: 'WHEN THE SUN COMES OUT'. A JOURNEY OF HOPE FOR LOVE.
Performed by Judy Garland on Episode 1 of 'The Judy Garland Show', taped June 24, 1963.
This version of 'When The Sun Comes Out' displays all of the genius that made Judy such a compelling and inspiring performer. As one of the greatest song interpreters, the power she exhibits here is mesmerizing. Every word, every note is perfectly expressed with the emotional artistry of a woman who knows exactly 'of what she sings'. This song is a beautiful journey of hope for love.
The musical arrangement compliments Judy's performance perfectly ... and when the music begins to crescendo at 2:44 ... she grabs every ounce of electrical energy that eminates from the words and music. A stellar performance ... one of my favorite's ... by a Classy Lady who always knew 'there'll be bluebirds round my door.'
Words by Ted Koehler, music by Harold Arlen, 1940.
When the sun comes out
And the rain stops beating on my window pane
When the sun comes out
There'll be blue birds 'round my door
Singing like they did before
That old storm broke out
And my man walked off
Left me in the rain
Though he's gone i doubt
If he'll stay away for good
I'd stop living if he should
Love is funny,
It's not always peaches, cream and honey
Just when everything seemed bright and sunny
Suddenly the cyclone came
It'll never be the same
Till that sun comes out
And the rain stops beating on my window pane
If my heart holds out
Let it rain, let it pour
It may not belong before
There's a knocking at my door
Then you'll know the one i love walked in
When the sun comes out...
And the rain stops beating on my window pane
If my heart holds out
Let it rain, let it pour
It may not belong before
There's a knocking at my door
Then you'll know the one i love walked in
When the sun comes out...

Touchy feely JUDY. Actually, it's one of the things I liked watching Judys TV show. Screw james Aubrey & his hateful, hateful dislike of Judy. Actually, F-him. My dad was a product of fear, born just b4 depression, but even he recognized great singers. He loved hearing JUDY sing. Whole family watched every one of her shows. We were so lucky to see her original tv shows

Being completely blind, and not being able to see her, it is remarkable how much her voice changed from the Wizard of Oz to this. If you didn’t tell me, it was her I would not believe you because she is completely unrecognizable in every way.

An amazing woman, huge talent. One of my all time favorites. It's a shame how Hollywood studios abused her. They drugged her when she was still a kid. She never fully recovered from the drugs and alcohol. They made a fortune off of her and she got squat.

How on Earth could such a magnetically gorgeous girl have attracted such dismissive, even withering criticism of her looks? This, along with the rest of how she was mishandled by the people who should have nurtured her, remains one of studio-era Hollywood’s most aggravating puzzles.

This is 2024 commenting. He i's soliciting ratings. Yep, rude is the word, dear. Sorry about the wig. Judy herself once said that she sold sympathy. I do have to disagree with the comment about little money. At her height, Carmen Miranda was the best paid woman in the country, and I think Judy may have been in that position at one point at the height of her fame. Now the amounts these people are paid what I think are outrageous amounts. $20 million for one movie is obscene.

It’s sad she couldn’t say I love my gay friends and fans and she did very much, but in that day to be gay it was scandalous! It would be compared with her agreeing that half her audience were pedophiles. Homosexuality was against the law and by saying how dare they say they’re gay she was defending them as best she could. ❤ She adored drag queens and gay men and took Liza to see Danny LaRue in London when she was 14? 15? Of course Londoners were not half so ridiculous about drag as Americans STILL are… well the Trump types anyway. Judy poor dear loved most every body
